The
Chinook is a twin rotor helicopter that entered service
with the RAF in the late 70's. It has a rear loading
ramp which allows the aircraft to carry not only troops
but cargo and small vehicles. The chinook can carry
44 troops and up to 28,000 lbs of payload either internally
or as an underslung payload.
The
Chinook is in service with 7, 18 and 27 Sqn's at RAF
Odiham, and 78 Sqn in the Falkland Islands.
